Several Pflugerville Neighborhoods transition water service

Check your sprinkler systems

Post Date:03/05/2017 4:30 p.m.

Water Pressure MapOver the past year, the City of Pflugerville transitioned water in several Pflugerville neighborhoods (Springbrook, Springbrook Glen, Highland Park, Highland Park North, Royal Pointe, Spring Trails, Pflugerville Heights, and Pfairway Park) to Lake Pflugerville surface water. This change not only provides these neighborhoods with surface water, but also may have increased the water pressure coming to your home. As a result, as you begin to use your sprinkler system in the coming weeks/months, it’s important to check your sprinkler heads as you may be pushing additional water onto your lawn when watering the same length of time as you have in the past which could increase your water usage and bill. A way to make sure that you’re watering appropriately in each zone is to put out a small metal can and collect to see how much water you are putting on your lawn section. The ideal amount of water is about an inch a week.

Sprinkler System Evaluations offered

If you need assistance, the City of Pflugerville Public Works Department offers a sprinkler irrigation system evaluation where trained city staff come out, inspect your sprinkler system for broken or damaged heads and help to make sure you're not wasting water.  Residents must be home for the city to inspect each watering zone and access the controller unit. An evaluation can take from one to two hours to complete. Please call 512-990-6400 to schedule an inspection or if you have any questions about the water change. In addition, the city has several tips to save and conserve water around the house online at www.pfreshwater.com.
