Weiss Lane construction begins
Starting this week, construction crews began work on the Weiss Lane Widening Project. With construction already underway on East Pecan Street, it’s important that drivers obey the posted 35 mph regulatory speed limit signs. A north and southbound traffic lane will remain open during the Weiss Lane construction which is scheduled for approximately 21 months.
This project is funded by voter-approved bond funds (City of Pflugerville and Travis County) and will widen the roadway from Wilbarger Creek to Kelly Lane from two lanes to four lanes with curb and gutter and drainage improvements. The southernmost section from Wilbarger Creek to East Pecan St. will be reconstructed as a two-lane roadway with shoulder.
Proposed improvements include:
- Rebuilding all bridges from Pecan Street to Kelly Lane starting with the one-lane bridge located between Pecan Street and Pflugerville Parkway.
- Expanding road from two to four lanes
- Adding turn lanes at intersections
- Improved drainage
- Construction of sidewalks and hike and bike trails
